Are you lost? Use the right map

Greenman Coaching ~ Thought of the Day

Are you lost? Use the right map.

Have you lost your way? You can’t seem to read the road signs anymore? You can’t seem to find your map, or worse you left without it! Not to worry. Your soul is the greatest GPS device known to man in your journey though life.

The problem is, that while we are beings of energy, that energy right now is locked up in a body and mind/ego. It’s not a huge problem, but the body and mind can speak pretty loudly some times, so loud that we can no longer hear our soul. The soul will always try to get you where you’re going, we just can’t hear it all the time.

So, we’ve developed tools, maps, goals, vision boards, coaches, therapists, and a plethora of others just to keep us on track. When all we really need is to be quiet enough to hear the whisperings of our soul. We’ve all experienced those moments when we didn’t walk down this street, or did make that phone call based on something we ‘felt’. Many call that intuition (and it is), but what they don’t say is that intuition is the voice of the soul that is screaming at you to do something. Usually the soul is much much quieter.

It takes practice to hear the soul. This is what they call a spiritual practice: Meditate or pray daily. Do acts of random kindness ( ARK’s) and be aware of what your soul is telling you. Einstein once wrote; “The only real valuable thing is intuition.” We don’t always hear it, but then again we aren’t always listening.

Listen.

Greenman Coaching ~ Thought of the Day

"Rejoice and be exceedingly glad..."

Today millions of Christians are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. Outside of his birth celebration at Christmas, this religious holiday is one of the most important, if not the most important holiday on the Christian calendar.

But like Christmas, this day belongs not only to Christian’s but to anyone that wants to celebrate new life. They say, “remember the reason for the season”; if you are celebrating new life whether that includes the life of Jesus or not, then I say you are remembering the reason for the season. There are all kinds of religions in the world today, some that adhere to the teachings of Jesus and his apostles, and some that don’t. That is becoming less and less important today as long as there is tolerance for our brothers and sisters across the face of this world.

The days of “our way is the only way to heaven”, while they still exist, a new spiritual revolution is bringing those days to an end. We are all connected and must act accordingly.

My wish for you on this Holy day is that you have the sense of rebirth in your life. That you understand and know without a shadow of doubt, that resurrection in all things is possible. No matter where you are in you life’s procession, there will be no end to it, only rebirth and change. Revel in this day because its meaning is the core of your spiritual being ~ Happy Easter.

"Where tragedy confronts eternity"

Many of you may know I am continuing my education in the field of psychology. As a student I don't have the opportunity to read a great deal for pleasure only. While I enjoy many of my text books (many of them can be found on my website) I've put off reading novels until this summer break.

The Shack, is a book that came highly recommended to me. It is a spiritual novel and I'm not even finished with it and I will highly recommend it to you! It is an excellent novel. I've already cried, smiled inside and laughed out loud reading it. Written by Wm. Paul Young, it is a short 252 pages, but reads as if only 50. Yes, it is that sort of page turner. In fact I recommend that you do not start reading it until you have a chunk of free time, because you will NOT want to put it down.

Lastly, I want to add if you are a Christian this is a must read book. This book will bring you ever so much closer to your faith. If you've ever wondered about the Holy Trinity, you may find answers here, if you've ever wondered why Jesus died on the cross - it becomes ever so poignantly clear in this novel (it made me cry).

If you are former Christian, or someone that has turn away from Christianity don't let my former statements disuade you from reading this book. Regardless of your faith, it holds a deep spirituality and has something for everyone.

Buy it today!

Greenman Coaching ~ Thought of the Day

Shhhhhhh

"The most power prayer, one well nigh omnipotent, and the worthiest work of all is the outcome of a quiet mind." Meister Eckhart wrote that, and if you don’t believe it just give it a try. Jesus told us; “ when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” The Buddha teaches us; “The greatest prayer is patience.” If it doesn’t take a quiet mind to be patient, I don’t know what does.

There you have it. Spiritual leaders have always taught us that our communion with the Divine, the Greater Source – God – is to shut your mouth and open your heart. Opening your heart is an act of gratitude, not supplication. I think Mother Teresa put it very well; “Before you speak, it is necessary for you to listen, for God speaks in the silence of the heart.”

You’ve gotten the message, now it’s time to kick it up notch.

In the beginning...

Greenman Coaching ~ Thought of the Day

"Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You."

(Dr. Suess )

In the beginning ...

In the beginning: Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
Now do you honestly believe that “image” is what Michelangelo painted on the Sistine Chapel? If you do, then I’m sorry we must agree to disagree. For me (and millions of other) that ‘image’ is the divine love within us that allows us to choose and create. Do you feel this love?; this divine love at the very core of our being? Some of us have, and it probably scared you to death, and if you are a spiritual person even more so. You understand what getting in touch with that love means to you and the world around you, but you are/were afraid of being abandoned by your friends and family (just as Jesus was kicked out of Nazareth). We become afraid of being called a kook or assigned some form of psychological identity disorder. I want to let you know though, you are not the only one that has felt it. You are NOT a kook, nor do you have a disorder.

What do we do about when Jesus told us: "Truly, I tell all of you with certainty, the one who believes in me will also do what I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” Jesus isn’t the only one that taught such things; Buddha, Krishna, Gandhi – spiritual leaders and Masters have all taught this same principle.

Divine love, which is inside you, will make you whole. It will grant to you a peace you’ve only ever dreamt of. It will connect us all. Open your heart to it, don’t be afraid.

The Druid's Grove ~ Thought of the Day

"Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You."

(Dr. Suess )

What you talkin' 'bout?!

Have you ever walked away from one of your teachers at school, and were confounded by what they had to teach you? But after you got home and a little time of quiet study, you “get it” as if struck by lightning? Quite frankly, math was that way for me quite often.

Rest assured that you spiritual journey will be no different. And if you are one of the fortunate ones that “get it” right from the start, I still don’t think that will be your situation on a spiritual journey. Why? Because I think it must be written in some Spiritual Masters Handbook somewhere that spiritual masters must be a little (if not a lot) obtuse in their teaching. The Buddha was pretty straight forward, but even some of his teachings catch us off guard; “ Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened.”. OK, I get that from the perspective of the candle – it’s sound physics, but in a spiritual sense, what’s he talking about? Jesus, did the exact same thing with the parables that he was famous for – “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle …”. Huh?!

Well, if you are on a spiritual journey, fear not. This style of teaching is chosen by the Masters on purpose. You would clearly not be the only one confused. Growing up, and even now, in the Christian tradition, I’ve been exposed to various Bible studies. If everyone got it, then we wouldn’t need to study the Bible. The Masters need you to take time and with silence go inside yourself to find the answers. We don’t need to be “taught” anything. Even that Math homework is waiting inside you, waiting for you to push the right button so your mind can say… “OHHHH Yeah!, now I get it”. So too is your spiritual awareness inside you. The Masters are now waiting for you to push that button, so you can say; “HALALUAH!!! I get it!”.

Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.
Mood:  happy

Is the path to enlightenment difficult or easy? Is the journey we may take for enlightenment a long hard road? If your answer was yes, enlightenment is a long hard road, I would respectfully disagree. The path to enlightenment is NOT the yellow brick (or golden) road to the emerald city. No, if we learn anything from history then we will have heard the Buddhists tell us, “If you meet the Buddha along the road, then kill him”. We would have listened when Jesus told us, “Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God”.

Masters, from the beginning of time have taught us to stop looking for enlightenment outside of our self. Our truths have forever lived within us. Our road to enlightenment then is a very short road, and while it may appear to be difficult, any hindrance is of our own accord. Work with it instead of against it, and you will see just how easy it can be. When the light bulb comes on, and you shout with joy and bliss, “Eureka!” you will slap yourself in the head saying, “why didn’t I see this in the first place?!”

What’s that you say? You’re missing something? You don’t get it? Yes, you do, it just so happens that you are in denial. It’s something our ego will do for us automatically in this case, because if our soul gets the upper hand then the ego is pretty much doomed- and this the ego knows and will fight to survive!.

You know what I mean?

Faith, belief, knowing, awen, insight, enlightenment, illumination, psychic 'seeing', clairvoyance – how many different terms do you know of to explain the unexplainable in your life? And is it really unexplainable, or do you just lack the words to communicate your thoughts and feelings.

I think we’ve all had at one point or another, those ‘ah-ha’ moments when everything seems to become clear. They may last only a few minutes or even seconds, but aren’t they great when they happen? The thing about these moments is that we normally treat them as discoveries, when that is really not it at all. These ah-ha moments don’t usually come to us when we are thinking about something, but rather they sneak up on us and pounce!

These moments are your souls remembering.

Trust in these moments because they are core moments to your Self and to your connection to the Universe.

And here's the really kicker! You remember more than you think. You know what I’m talking about.

How big is a mustard seed?
Mood:  hug me
Topic: Spirituality

Have you forgotten something?  Perhaps you never were really given the chance to now it, but I doubt that.  Have you reached an impasse, and you are lost as to know how to continue?  Were you left behind in a relationship?  Were you laid off from your job, and can’t seem to find that next very elusive great job?  Does it feel like all the cards are stacked against you?  Oh, you’ve done all the positive thinking “tricks” you’ve tried to manifest all the good things.  You’ve meditated every day – TWICE A DAY!  And still nothing is budging.  Have you forgotten something?

Faith perhaps?

As we move (or try to move) along our path the obstacles can be pretty amazing to try to overcome.  All your friends are right there rooting for you… telling you “everything is for a reason”, or “you're better off without her – she didn’t deserve you”, “well, now you get to do something you REALLY love”.  Friends are great to have, but not always helpful… especially when we’re feeling stuck.  Don’t forget faith.  Jesus said, “for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you”

I’m not telling you to start your own land excavation business, but I am saying that a little bit of faith in what you are doing goes so very very far.  Are you feeling worthless after she left?  Be comforted that  she loved you at all.. are you thinking you are too old now to get that dream job?  Can God really give up on one of his children?  Could YOU?!  Have faith in your personal value, and what you mean to everyone around you.  You never achieved all that you achieved without faith in the first place… don’t forget it now.

Why bad things happen to good people.
Mood:  bright

Why bad things happen to good people; the answer you've all been waiting for~

When you hear it, you’ll slap with your forehead with a resounding “DOH”.  It is so simple.  Bad things happen to good people because they want them; no… they NEED those things to happen.

Nearly all of life as we know it is relational.  We all understand and have a driving force TO understand these relationships.  For example, we all understand that there would be no dark without light, or there would be no cold without warmth.  We know and understand that fire is hot and can burn.

How do we understand it? Because more likely than not you have that EXPERIENCE.  We can know all we want – read as many books as you like, but we will never truly KNOW or understand a thing until we experience that thing.  We have been given a physical body for the mere purpose to experience the physical world we live in.  In this way we know and understand our world.  Now be honest.  Did you know fire burned until you put your finger into the flame?  Have you ever experienced the effects of the suns heat on your skin… experienced it turning bright red… experienced your skin bubbling as if under the pinpoint ray of a magnifying glass.  You understand “sunburn” because you have experienced sunburn.  If you’ve never had a sunburn, then you don’t know what I’m talking about do you.

All of life proceeds in the same manner.  For every darkness you experience you will know and understand the light more (speaking metaphorically here).  The more light you know and understand, the more you desire to know and understand.  But as always, you cannot know more without experiencing more of the darkness.  Bad things happen to good people because in a very deep way, the good people ask for it.  Good people want to know and understand the best of everything… but they cannot know and understand the best of everything without first knowing and understand the worst of everything.  We cannot know and understand the worst of everything without first EXPERIENCING the worst of everything.

So now you know.  Do you still have the courage to be good?  I think you do J
